Reviewing my 2018 goals — and making new ones for 2019
Before 2017 ended, I created a list of things I want to do and achieve in 2018. Let’s look back and see how much of the list I actually achieved.
2018 GOAL: MAKE FULL USE OF MY BLOG
Every time I want to change something to the layout, my OCD kicks in and makes me want to change EVERYTHING -- all thumbnails, all dates, how the title is written, and I end up not having the time to write a blog entry. This year, I will stick to this layout, this look, and just write, write write.
OOPS. I didn’t get to make full use of my blog last year, nor did I stick with a layout and “wrote, wrote, wrote”. Laziness got the better of me, lack of creativity as well, but I think I kinda made bawi naman the latter part of the year after changing my layout again for the Nth time. Hahaha!
2018 GOAL: START VLOGGING?
Maybe? What do you think? I actually enjoyed editing my travel vlogs so much that the thought crossed my mind. I mean, I'm madaldal and medyo walang hiya, so why not? Let's see. Not promising though.
I didn’t. And I won’t. We’ll be sticking to travel highlights for now.
2018 GOAL: KEEP TRACK OF MY MONEY
Now that I have MAJOR expenses to keep track of aside from all the household expenses, I just need to know where my money goes and why I find it so hard to freaking save half of my salary!!! I started doing this in November and there are days where I forget to log my expenses, but I'm working on it!
This one I did for the whole year and boy, did I WASTE a lot of money. Sheesh.
2018 GOAL: STOP CHECKING OUT SEAT SALES
Tempting yourself will not help.
I think I kinda did. Though still went out of the country once every quarter, 2 out of 4 of those trips aren’t seat sales!
2018 GOAL: WAKE UP AT 7AM AND SLEEP BEFORE 12MN
I'm getting old. I need that full sleep. Also, waking up at 7am will give me ample time to prepare before leaving the house at 10AM to get to work at 11AM. If I need to stay up though, the shortest sleep I should get is at least 6 hours. Thus, what I'll need is PROPER TIME MANAGEMENT.
I’m typing this at 2am. Go figure.
2018 GOAL: STRICTLY FOLLOW 11-8PM WORK SCHEDULE
Or at least keep it to 10 hours MAX. I don't want to sacrifice my time for other things like school and other hobbies by being at work for more than 12 hours everyday. No more. None of that crap.
Uhm… need I say more?
2018 GOAL: PRIORITIZE MY HEALTH
No, I won't enroll for a gym membership at the start of the year only to end up not using it by June. I admit living alone made me eat so much junk -- fast food in particular just because I'm too lazy to cook my own food, so I will try to eat less fast food and more home-cooked meals. Fruits and veggies included. I won't be able to break up with milk tea and flavored drinks, but I'm calling it off with soda. SO HELP ME LAWRD.
Guess not for this one either.
2018 GOAL: VISIT THE US IN DECEMBER
I miss my relatives so much -- I haven't seen most of them since 2004. I need to see my grandma too, so I'm sacrificing all travels (and other unnecessary expenses) to prepare for this huge one.
I was able to do this, but my grandma died the same day I landed. I was heartbroken, but getting to spend time with my family made everything so much better.
ONE MAJOR TRAVEL FOR THE YEAR AND THAT’S IT
Korea! Unless there are work-related travels then I won’t be able to say no, right? Or Canada in December, maybe? Who knows. I’m just planning ONE for my 30th birthday and to celebrate our engagement, so that’s it.
I mean, the reason I wanted a laptop was so I could start writing more frequently and now that I have one, then I have no more excuses! I just need to have my USB-C hub with me, and I’ll be all set for more blogging! Yey!
For 2019 I want to learn the difference of wanting something and needing something because I’m really the type of person who doesn’t know the difference between the two. When I see something I want, I NEED IT, so we NEED to change that. LOL. Less expenses, more savings. PLEASE.
TAKE MY HOBBIES SERIOUSLY
Photography? Check. Content creation? Okay. This time, I will dedicate more time to what keeps me alive outside and other than work. Take better photos, create better videos.
BE CLOSER WITH MY FAMILY
I want to start a group chat so bad so we can message each other everyday but they are so lazy to check their phones and reply to messages. They prefer Facetime calls. Also, I will stop avoiding my family here in the Philippines whenever I’m being invited. I re-learned the importance of family once I spent time with mine.
SAVE EXTRA INCOME
I always have a lot of extra cash by the end of December because of bonuses and benefits and whatnot, but usually when January comes around it’s all gone. I need to be able to SAVE, thus, BAON everyday!
LEARN TO DRIVE
This is one of the things that I NEED TO DO for myself. I’m so helpless all the time and with Grab prices going so high and the commute in Manila being the worst, I need to learn how to drive myself around. Also, with this, I’ll be able to follow my 11-8pm sched for work because I won’t need to wait for Raymond anymore. YEY!
Had a talk with my mentor and this is his goal for 2019 so I’m making it my own as well. I’m a PLANNER, but this time, I’ll just let life be.
So, that’s it. This is so fun to review, pala! Here’s hoping I get to do most of these goals this year. Cheers, 2019!
